GES - Global Energy Services llevando a cabo procesos de Instalación Eólica, con una turbina prototipo en España

GES – Global Energy Services expects to increase its Assembly business volume by more than 20% this year

GES – Global Energy Services, , a full-service provider of engineering, construction and services for the management and operation of renewable energy assets, expects to increase its wind assembly business volume by more than 20% this year. The company has a contracted pipeline for the assembly of 127 turbines in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal, representing a combined capacity of over 540 MW. Over its more than 30 years of activity, GES has assembled more than 7,400 turbines, accounting for around 5% of the global onshore wind installed capacity, excluding China.

GES operates six wind assembly crews, enabling it to provide simultaneous services across different countries. This has allowed the company, for example, to remain one of the leading assembly providers in France, where it is expected to assemble 57 turbines this year, totalling 220 MW. In Italy, where operations began last year, the company has consolidated its presence, having assembled a total of 59 turbines to date, reaching 294 MW of installed capacity.

In the Iberian Peninsula (a market that has seen a low number of turbine installations and strong competition among assembly providers in recent years), GES has significantly increased its assembly activity this year, with plans to assemble more than 40 turbines. In addition, the company is exploring projects for 2027 in markets such as North Africa, Eastern Europe and Mexico, supported by its strong relationships with leading European and American OEMs, as well as by engagement with other manufacturers entering tenders in these regions.

The performance of the Assembly activity has enabled the company to increase its permanent workforce by 53%, growing from 56 people at the beginning of the year to 86 direct employees currently, in addition to 40 indirect hires. This represents an overall increase of 125% in employment, combining direct and indirect jobs.

Turbine dismantling and repowering: strategic activities

GES is currently delivering several flagship projects that reinforce its position as a strategic partner for its clients. Among these, it is worth highlighting the assembly, during the first quarter of the year, of the highest-capacity turbines ever installed by the company, with a unit capacity of 7 MW.

At the same time, GES is progressing with turbine and wind farm dismantling projects, ensuring component recycling and material circularity through synergies with other companies within CL Grupo Industrial, the holding company it has been part of since 2017, particularly in the steel and transport sectors. This activity is complemented by repowering projects currently under tender in the domestic market.

In addition, the company has carried out the assembly of a turbine prototype for certification in the European market, a project that has required the adaptation of equipment and processes to perform various technical tests throughout the execution.

As José Antonio Sánchez, Head of Wind Assembly Operations, states:

“The adaptability of our teams is essential to achieving these figures. Currently, more than 70% of the turbines we assemble are large-scale units, with capacities exceeding 4 MW. This requires specialisation, responsiveness and, above all, prioritising the safety of our teams. The flexibility of our crews to respond to planning changes and adapt to different turbine models and technologies is a key factor valued by our clients.”
