GES COMPLETES CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF MORE THAN 300 WIND MW FOR CIP IN ZARAGOZA (SPAIN)
GES completes the construction of 345 MW in eight wind farms in Zaragoza for one of the largest renewable-oriented investment funds: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, CIP. In addition, GES has installed 85 wind turbines with a capacity of 323 MW.
GES has completed the construction of civil and electrical infrastructures for 345 MW and the installation of 323 MW in 8 wind farms in Zaragoza (the Valdejalon wind farms and Alenza cluster) which are part of CIP’s Monegros portfolio. With these projects, GES consolidates its position as integral supplier of engineering, construction, and installation services for renewable energies and as a strategic partner for clients, who can rely on a single supplier to undertake the entire project, from design to energization. This is the consolidation of a challenge that the company began 4 years ago (with its first major integral project in the Coahuila wind farm in Mexico in 2017) and which has consolidated and become its strong point and a differentiating factor for the company.
Success Case
GES’ works for CIP’s Monegros project has extended over two years (starting in May 2019) and has included engineering, supply, BOP construction and turbine installation services. GES has overseen the full EPC, including civil works (with more than 83 km of roads and 91 foundations and platforms for 85 meter wind turbines that have been installed at the wind farm.) Electrical works have also been executed, including underground medium voltage line with more than 80 kms of trenches and 132 and 220 kV evacuation lines of more than 60 kms that discharge energy to the network. Energization of all of them will be completed by the second quarter of 2021.
In addition to the construction of the civil and electrical infrastructure for the energy evacuation, GES has installed 85 turbines of the total of 91 positions that it has built for Monegros portfolio, executing an integral work for two leading companies in the renewable energy market such as the wind turbine manufacturer GE Renewable Energy and CIP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners). This project is another example of GES’s success as an integral supplier of services of engineering, construction and installation services in the wind energy sector, in which it has been active for more than 26 years. As a full-service provider, GES has installed around 3,000 MW in wind farms built by GES in different countries around the world.
Optimization of execution schedules.
GES’ capacity to carry out the construction of the projects from the detailed engineering phase, the execution of the civil as well as the medium and high voltage works and the installation, is a significant added value for the awarding of the construction and installation contracts worldwide. The perfect coordination between the different teams that execute each of these works, thanks to a unique project management with the different teams working in a coordinated manner, makes it possible to reduce downtimes, resulting in tighter execution schedules. At this respect, GES is the leader.
