Planta solar fotovoltaica construida por GES - Global Energy Services en modalidad EPC

In the last quarter, GES – Global Energy Services successfully signed four photovoltaic contracts, worth a total of €196 million and 343 MWp.

GES – Global Energy Services, a Spanish company providing engineering, construction and maintenance solutions for renewable energy, has signed four contracts in recent months for the construction of photovoltaic solar plants. The projects will total 343.26 MWp and represent a global investment of €196.42 million.

The contracts include EPC services (engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning) for photovoltaic plants in Palencia, Teruel, Ciudad Real and Burgos. Two of these have been secured with new clients for GES, thereby reaffirming the company’s capability and experience, positioning it as a trusted partner for renewable asset developers and investors. Collectively, these four projects will supply renewable energy to over 168,000 households and prevent the emission of more than 192,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.

With over 30 years of experience in the wind market, GES began constructing photovoltaic solar plants over 20 years ago, executing its first project in Spain in 2004. This year, photovoltaic energy will be the most significant technology for GES’s construction business unit, accounting for nearly 70% of revenue, compared to the slowdown in wind projects. Carlos Charray, Chief Contracting Officer, stated that they have over 1 GW of wind projects in the pipeline, scheduled to commence in the coming months, as pending permitting milestones are successfully addressed. These milestones have been identified as the key impediment to the advancement of this technology in our country. “If the competent authorities does not take action to accelerate the approval process and expedite the resolution of appeals during the wind project development phase, Spain will fail to meet the targets set out in the PNIEC, and investment will continue to be impacted by prevailing uncertainty.”

José Luis García Donoso, the company’s CEO, states: “The business diversification strategy that was launched in recent years has enabled the company to maintain its flexibility, thereby ensuring the continuation of stable growth. This strategy has been instrumental in driving significant contributions from the solar business and facilitating the company’s expansion into new markets outside of Spain.” In this regard, technological diversification is one of GES’s strategic priorities. During the past year, the company has progressed significantly in the field of battery energy storage systems (BESS), signing collaboration agreements with leading manufacturers for equipment maintenance, securing hybridisation contracts with batteries for operational solar plants in Spain, and executing its largest BOP BESS project to date, with 340 MW x 4h in Chile. In addition, it has established a new business unit specialising in engineering and construction of high-voltage lines, in anticipation of evolving market needs and their growing demand in the coming years.
