GES – Global Energy Services has donated €1,954.15 to Fundación TECHO, an amount raised through the two most recent editions of the Reto 1,000k #EnergiaPositiva, held in October 2024 and May 2025 as part of the company’s Wellbeing Plan. The initiative brought together sport, wellbeing and social commitment to support a community in Oaxaca, Mexico, through a solar photovoltaic-powered lighting solution.
The GES Reto 1,000k #EnergiaPositiva encouraged GES employees to accumulate kilometres through running and cycling, transforming their sporting activities into a financial contribution for a social cause. Through this initiative, the company successfully combined two key pillars of its wellbeing programme: promoting healthy lifestyles through sport and supporting vulnerable communities.
The funds raised will be allocated to a Community Energy Infrastructure Project that Fundación TECHO will implement in Colonia Ampliación Monte Albán, Oaxaca (Mexico). The project will provide lighting for public spaces powered by solar photovoltaic energy, directly benefiting more than 200 families within the community. This improvement will not only enable residents to use these spaces for longer each day, but will also help enhance safety and quality of life.
The symbolic donation ceremony took place at GES’s offices in Madrid. Representing the company, José Luis García Donoso, CEO of GES, presented the donation cheque on behalf of all employees who contributed to the challenge through their kilometres. On behalf of Fundación TECHO, the donation was received by Ramiro Pérez, Director of TECHO Europe.
Throughout the two editions of the challenge, participants logged hundreds of training sessions from different regions of Spain and even from countries such as Chile and Mexico, demonstrating that teamwork, shared motivation and solidarity can transcend geographical distance.
Commitment to the communities where the company operates
This initiative forms part of GES’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, aimed at generating a positive impact beyond its business activities. The company works to contribute to the economic and social development of the communities in which it carries out its projects, while also supporting the energy transition through renewable energy infrastructure that helps reduce CO₂ emissions and advance the decarbonisation of power generation.
Mexico holds a significant place in GES’s international track record. Since 2008, the company has participated in the development of renewable energy infrastructure throughout the country, building experience across 18 projects and establishing a strong market presence. Today, GES remains committed to growth in the region and is currently participating in several tenders for new solar photovoltaic and wind energy construction projects.
The partnership with TECHO further strengthens the connection between the company’s activities and the communities where it operates, helping to improve access to essential services through sustainable solutions aligned with GES’s corporate purpose.
