GES – Global Energy Services has been awarded the 2026 Empresa y Sociedad José Ignacio Arrieta Award in the general category, a recognition that highlights companies’ commitment to economic, social, and environmental development.
The award, in its seventh edition, is granted annually by Estrategia Empresarial in collaboration with BBK and Petronor, and recognises organisations that promote initiatives aligned with corporate social responsibility and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Sustainability understood across three dimensions
Over more than three decades, GES has played an active role in the energy transition, contributing to the development, construction, and maintenance of renewable energy generation projects across international markets.
GES’s activity is defined by a comprehensive approach to sustainability, addressing its impact from three perspectives: environmental, through the generation of clean energy; economic, by strengthening industrial competitiveness; and social, through its commitment to people’s wellbeing and development.
The award was presented by Emiliano López Atxurra, President of Petronor, and Alex Artetxe, President and CEO of Arteche, and was received by Carlos Charray, GES’s Chief Contracting Officer (CCO). During his speech, Charray underlined the importance of the recognition as an incentive to continue advancing in sustainability, highlighting that it represents a structural commitment for the company and emphasising the role of people as the driving force behind its activity.
Award ceremony
The ceremony took place on May 26, 2026, at Sala BBK in Bilbao, bringing together nearly 200 representatives from institutional, business, and social organisations. The jury recognised GES for its contribution to the development of sustainable cities and for facilitating access to clean energy in both urban and industrial environments.
The event was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Basque Government, Iñaki Ruiz, who highlighted the role of the awarded companies as drivers of social cohesion and emphasised innovation as a key factor in business development, understood today as a collaborative effort between companies, institutions, and knowledge centres. In this edition, the jury — made up of representatives from the Basque Government, BBK, Petronor, Confebask, and companies recognised in previous editions — awarded GES in the general category, alongside Irisbond in the SME category
